The
COOK INLET ARCHERS
WORKING TOWARDS EDUCATION, DEVELOPMENT AND RESPECT FOR BOWHUNTERS AND A FIRST-CLASS FACILITY FOR PROMOTING AND IMPROVING THESE IDEAS. |
It was another frigid day for the hardy souls who came out to pit their skills against Mother Nature and a very well thought our course. A big thank you to everyone who came out and set up on Saturday! It was a fun course and everyone had a great time shooting.
Vikki Gross did a fine job cooking up the burgers and brats for everyone, and a special thank you to Errol and Judy Bickford who donated a big pot of clam chowder to the feast-very welcome on a cold day and mighty tasty, too!!
And of course, thank you to all who help bring in the animals and take care of all the "little things" that make our shoots a success. It really does take all of us working together to make these tournaments happen, so if you have any ideas, would like to help set up (remember, if you set up you shoot for free), or volunteer in any way, please contact a club officer.
It seems that 22 cases have been found along the trails on the range. This is strictly against municipal code and if anyone sees this happening or knows who is responsible, please contacts a club officer.
It is also against municipal code for dogs to be in a municipal park and not leashed. Due to some unfortunate incidents, dogs will no longer be allowed on the course, or in the common area of the range. When they are in the common area, they must be on a leash no longer than 6ft. This is not only for the protection of shooters, but to prevent liability issues that our insurance will not cover. Personally, I'm very sorry this has to happen, but the risks are becoming too great, and need to be eliminated.
This will be MJ Larson's last year as secretary for Cook Inlet Archers; anyone who wishes to volunteer for this position contact Dan Branvold, Vikki Goss, MJ Larson or Mike Quinn.
Thanks to everyone who stepped up to the plate and joined IBO again (or for the first time) this year; this really keeps the cost of our insurance down and benefits a great organization.
The next shoot will be held on FEB 21st. The sign up will be at 9:00 and the shoot will start at 10:00. Depending on the temperature, it will either be a 2-arrow, 1 round tournament, or a 1-arrow, 2 round tournaments.
This month we will be having an archery biathalon for the novelty shoot, so bring your snowshoes and skis!
Those archers participating in the new Bowhunter Open class, please be registered and on the course by 9:30.
If anyone has any announcements or information to pass along to the rest of the club members, please get them to Dan before the shoot starts and he will announce them during the briefing.
The course closes at 4:00. All archers must be off the course and their scores posted before 4:00.
Remember, if you help to set the course, you shoot free.
Beginning with the April, 2009 shoot CIA changed its classification and award procedures. Thanks to all of you who took the time to respond to our request for input, and we hope that the new format will simplify things.
Winners of the drawing:
Bowhunter category: Kent Sandquest and Travis Lewis took Archers Den gift certificates.
Traditional category: Fred Larson won an Archers Den gift certificate.
Traditional Female: MJ Larson received a gift certificate.
The next meeting will be March 3rd at 7:00 p.m., at Pizza Man in Eagle River. Please plan to attend and bring your appetites, ideas and suggestions.
